With distribution depots strategically located in Limerick, Dublin, and Belfast, PFL maintains its position as the largest Irish-owned independent floor-covering distributor in Ireland.
The Challenge:
In 2022, PFL embarked on a transformative journey with the acquisition of a sprawling 100,000 sq ft building complex situated in the Delta Retail Park, Limerick. This facility was envisioned to house state-of-the-art high bay warehousing, signalling a new phase of growth for PFL. However, the challenge loomed large as PFL needed to seamlessly relocate its existing Limerick Head Office to this new location at Delta Business Park. The primary objective was to design a space that not only accommodated the company’s expanding operations but also incorporated a modern design center to showcase the latest products in the flooring industry.
The Solution:
To navigate this transition successfully, PFL enlisted the expertise of Carr Associate Architects. Led by architect Sinead Wilmott, the team embarked on reimagining the showrooms and lobby area of the new facility. Sinead’s vision was to integrate a captivating wall feature that exuded natural charm while prominently featuring the PFL branding. Leveraging VistaFolia artificial green walls, sourced from Surface Wow, Sinead crafted a solution that seamlessly blended aesthetics with functionality.
VistaFolia, renowned for its naturalistic appeal and customizable design, offered the perfect canvas for Sinead’s creative vision. Utilizing its unique 3-panel system, Sinead ensured seamless coverage, devoid of any visible join lines or repetitive patterns. The VistaFolia artificial plant wall panels provided the ideal backdrop for creating a stunning vertical garden, adding a touch of greenery to the commercial space without the hassle of ongoing maintenance.
The Result
The implementation of the design concept was a resounding success. The VistaFolia feature framed within the lobby entrance not only accentuated the PFL branding but also served as a focal point that captivated visitors upon arrival. With meticulous attention to detail, local company Brandmonster skillfully integrated exceptional lighting and stylish furnishings, elevating the lobby’s ambience and leaving a lasting impression.
Furthermore, Sinead’s ingenuity extended to incorporating VistaFolia panels into special troughs within the main showroom area. This thoughtful integration facilitated a natural flow throughout the public areas of PFL’s new headquarters, enhancing the overall aesthetic appeal and functionality of the space.
The versatility of VistaFolia panels was showcased admirably, demonstrating their ability to transform ordinary spaces into visually stunning environments. In conclusion, the collaborative efforts between PFL, Carr Associate Architects, and Surface Wow have resulted in the creation of a dynamic workspace that not only meets the company’s operational needs but also sets a new standard for design excellence within the flooring industry.
