Bringing Nature Inside

Fitzgeralds Woodlands House Hotel & Spa, a proud founding member of Original Irish Hotels, has evolved significantly since its humble beginnings over 40 years ago. Originally established as a modest four-bedroom bed and breakfast byMary and Dick Fitzgerald to supplement their farming income, the establishment has grown into an award-winning, four-star hotel boasting 89 rooms and employing over 200 people.

Timmy Macs Bistro, renowned as one of the finest restaurants in Adare, prides itself on offering a diverse menu featuring locally sourced, seasonal ingredients, many of which come from the hotel’s own organic farm and Mary’s Organic Garden. However, the restaurant faced a significant challenge: excessive sound reverberation near the open-plan kitchen, creating an unpleasant dining experience during busy times.

Mary Fitzgerald envisioned a refurbishment that would not only solve the acoustic issues but also bring the beauty of the hotel’s extensive gardens and grounds inside the restaurant. This was the perfect opportunity to create an extraordinary wall feature that would embody the natural essence of the hotel’s surroundings.

Following the recommendation from Tailor&Wolf, the lead Interior Designers on the project, the client selected a 7-metre wall area for this innovative installation. Mary envisioned a stunning centrepiece featuring tree bark and moss, reflecting the lush greenery of the hotel’s gardens. In collaboration with Freund, a design was developed using Greenwood Moss Extra Plus and Rusticork Bark to bring this vision to life.
