The Challenge:
Miss Suzy is one of the latest culinary destinations to hit Sligo. The owners approached Tom Laverty from Irish Time Design to help get transform their vision to reality for their restaurant in the heart of Sligo town. One of the key design factors was to use Asian influences for both the owners and the designer. This was an instrumental vision for the project.
The Solution:
Drawing upon his extensive experience in hospitality design, Tom Laverty explored bespoke and distinctive concepts for Miss Suzy. A central theme emerged – the integration of natural and sustainable materials in a modern and contemporary fashion. Introduced to the exceptional reclaimed wood panels from Wonderwall Studios at Surface Wow, Tom was captivated by the possibilities. The choice became clear as he laid eyes on “Silver” from the reclaimed teak collection.
“Silver” from Reclaimed Teak Wood:
The story behind “Silver” encapsulates the ethos of Wonderwall Studios. Sourcing wood from abandoned structures, the team negotiates a price with the property owner, acquiring the scrap wood for a new purpose. The subsequent process involves dismantling the derelict building, breathing new life into the wood by repurposing it for walls in homes, restaurants, bars, or hotels.
Wonderwall Studios transforms these reclaimed teak panels into re-imagined art deco classics, tailor-made for each project. Hand-carved representations of the natural world, combined with clear lines for contrast, create a stunning visual and tactile experience. The infusion of art, colors, and sculpture enriches any space and project, making each panel a unique and sustainable contribution to the Miss Suzy restaurant design.
Conclusion:
Miss Suzy Sligo stands as a testament to the synergy between Irish Time Design’s visionary approach and the sustainable elegance brought forth by Wonderwall Studios‘ reclaimed teak panels. The fusion of Asian influences, modern aesthetics, and environmentally conscious design creates an inviting atmosphere for culinary enthusiasts, making Miss Suzy a memorable destination in the heart of Sligo town.
